Introduction to Screen Printing on Fabric
Join textile designer Jocasta Bullock in her Cotswold studioexploring the traditional art of screen printing onto fabric.
The workshop is a relaxed, friendly, supportive, experimental and fun experience where you will learn a new (or revive a previous) skill. You will have the opportunity to create your own, individual, silkscreen printed artwork providing you with your own design and printed artwork or bespoke textile design to take home. As well as being part of a group you will also receive lots of one to one tuition to help you achieve the best outcome.
What does the day entail?
We will get straight into experimenting with some simple silkscreen techniques andpaper stencils to get you used to handling the materials and equipment. Then youwill be ready to prepare your own images to print onto either paper or fabric (orboth!).
Please bring your own imagery if you have something specific in mind or you canselect from a range of starting points, which will be available. You will have anopportunity to prepare and experiment with a range of techniques and layeringprocesses, We will print a meter of cotton fabric which you could take home forfurther craft projects such as a bag or cushion.

What will I need to bring?
If you have a particular theme or image you would like to work from please bring it along – your own drawings, photographs or magazine cuttings are all good source materials – but don’t worry if you haven’t got anything – there will be imagery to choose from. Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messy and/or an apron.
What is provided as part of the workshop?
All inks, binders and equipment will be provided. – Included is 1 meter of fabric toprint your final design and a couple of sampling fabrics at swatch size. There will becoffee/tea biscuits and soft drinks available at the studio. Whilst lunch is not provided, the wonderful Glasshouse Café at Miserden is a short drive away. Although not curenmtly open, the course includes a voucher for complementary hot drink and piece of cake for participants of the workshop to enjoy.
